Crow strides along the lake shore,
testing shells and debris with its beak,
tossing away the misfires.
A splash, water hopping against a nearby rock,
startles the bird momentarily.
Crow continues its jaunt along the beach, sauntering.
Crow braves the lapping waves to snag
a small white shell,
closed tight to protect its prize.
Crow prods and pokes until, finally,
it pries open its breakfast and
gulps.
Satiated, Crow flaps to a nearby branch.
Preening time.
